is it just me or was there a veryyy slight shippy feelings between Mad Maudie and Rangval the Rogue? Not in a fluffy romantic sense more like an admiring sense? Or they could’ve just been very chummy. Whatever. I think they were besties forever, Rangval even came to live at/near Salamandastron ffs how often do squirrels do that?
Leave me alone. Also SHOUT OUT to Abbot Daucus, who is arguably the most badass Abbot ever. He carries a sling around in his sleeves, he stands up to vengeful Guosim (bloody smacks Osbil’s blade away when he holds it to Maudie’s throat) then leads the bally charge with Orkwil to rescue the heroes on the plateau.
I just may have to sketch these guys *-*
bloody good book 9/10 would re-read again
yeah I just finished reading Eulalia too and I was totally shipping Maudie and Rangval, like you said they don’t have a fluffy sort of romance, but there is definitely some sort of connection there. Like, pretty much anytime Rangval talked, even if it was something meant for everyone to hear, he tended to direct it at Maudie, any time she went anywhere, he’d tag along, and he was always impressed with her skills. Maudie too obviously liked Rangval, right from the get go, and even in moments when he’d get on her nerves, she’d never stay mad at him for long. They have similar personalities, they’re both kind of brash, adventurous, somewhat reckless jokers. Also they’re kinda a foil or something to Gorath and Salixa’s relationship, Gorath and Salixa are the “opposites attract, two different personalities that balance each other out and make each other better” while Rangval and Maudie are very much a relationship of two people who are very similar in nature and personality and get along because of that, which is cool.
Also yes, Abbot Daucus is the coolest
